Nowadays if you go to the wet market or supermarket, you will notice the sweet Japanese potatoes in abundance.
My friends love to eat sweet potatoes and I thought it is a great lifestyles ideas to post this delicious sweet potato balls (in Malay it is Onde Onde) and trust that you will try them out. This recipe is kitchen tested and I gave four and half stars for this great snack.
Sweet Potato Balls (Onde Onde)Ingredients:
500g sweet potatoes
7 pandan leaves (screwpine)
5 tablespoon plain flour
½ teaspoon salt
400g palm sugar (Gula Melaka in Malay)
1 coconut grated without skin (steam the coconut)
Method:
Skin sweet potatoes
Boil in with plenty of water with 1 or 2 pandan leaves until it is cooked
Mash while still warm
Pound the remaining pandan leaves and extract juice
Add pandan juice to sweet potatoes and mix well
Sift flour into the mixture and add salt
Shave palm sugar into thin silver
Take a lump of sweet potatoes mixture and flatten into a round about 5 cm in
diameter
Put a few silvers of palm sugar in the centre and shape into a ball
Boil a large pot of water, when boiled drop the balls into it
When they rise to the surface, they are done
Drain and roll in grated coconut while still warm
