We uses 2.5 billion plastic bags a year or 530 bags per person. What is even more alarming is that we are indifferent to this compared to other countries who is waging wars against plastic bags. China would ban retailers from giving customers free plastic bag from June 1, 2008. Australia would phase out plastic shopping bag within one year. In Ireland and Taiwan, retailers are already obliged by law to charge customers for plastic bags and consumption has fallen as much as 90 percent. Singapore has a Bring Your Own Bag Day on the first Wednesday of every month and involves about 200 retailers.

We should go to extreme measures not to use plastic bag and opt for foldable nylon shopping bag reusable. And considering the fact that the average plastic bag is used for five minutes, then it takes 500 years to decompose, it is not worth the toll on the environment. We can do more for to save our own environment and it start with ME.
I can do less plastic bag at a time.
