I have this kind of sleep-walking many years ago when I had my first job at the manufacturing factory. Because it was my first job after graduation, I took my job with dead seriousness that I worked ten hours a day every Monday to Friday and promotion came quickly. But I was suffered from poor health, skin allergies and poor night sleep. Sometimes I would sleep walk around the living room with my family members watching television. They would woke me up and asked me to go back to sleep. Sometimes I would close all the windows and murmured something which nobody understood what I was saying. The next day my brother or sister would relate such incidents to me. Sometimes I would wake up and go to the study table and write something on a piece of paper, strangely I cannot remembered when I woke up. Most of the time, when I went on holidays with friends I would remind them that I can sleep-walk so that they can watch out for me during the nights, just in case I stepped out into the dark outside.
How to cope
Always reassure that sleepwalker is not abnormal. The condition is mostly benign and disappears with age. Try to find out what minimize the trigger factors (for example, stress). The person should have adequate sleep and rest. The sleepwalker should avoid watching television or exposure to other such stimuli before sleep. This is to ensure a clear state of mind. Family members should locked the doors and install window grilles if necessary in the sleepwalker’s room. Also remove sharp obstacles and objects in the room. Instead of trying to wake a sleepwalker gently redirect him back to bed.
